This visit will bring Georgia-Belarus relations to a qualitatively new level – David Zalkaliani

23.08.2019, Belarus Belarus is the firm supporter of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and this has been reconfirmed at the highest level” – Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani said when commenting on the meeting between Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze and President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.
According to the Minister, discussions during the meeting focused on all main areas of Georgia-Belarus relations with special focus on the need to further deepen economic cooperation.
“Trade turnover between the two countries increases every year and there is all evidence to believe that 2019 will also be a very positive year in terms of trade relations” – the Minister said.
He added that the number of Belarusian tourists to Georgia is also on the rise and, to further intensify cooperation in this area, the sides considered the possibility of operating direct flights between the two countries.
