Mikheil Janelidze has met the Chairman of the Senate of Ireland

31.10.2017, Tbilisi - The Georgian Vice Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze held a meeting with the Chairman of the Senate of Ireland, Mr. Denis O'Donovan, as part of his official visit to Georgia.

The meeting focused on Georgia-Ireland bilateral co-operation in various areas.
 
Mikheil Janelidze  thanked Denis O'Donovan for a resolution supporting Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity that has been adopted by the Parliament of Ireland.
 
The Georgian Foreign Minister briefed the Irish PMs on the situation in the occupied territories of Georgia emphasizing the special importance of the international community’s support for the Georgian Government’s peace initiatives.
 
Discussions focused on the possibilities of opening an Irish embassy in Georgia and introducing direct flights between the two countries that will further contribute to the further strengthening of people-to-people contatcs.
 
The Irish delegation reaffirmed Ireland’s firm support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and for its European and Euro-Atlantic integration path.
 
Highlighting many similarities between Ireland and Georgia, the Irish parliamentarians expressed their readiness to further contribute to the consolidation of mutually beneficial co-operation between the two countries.
