On 22 September 2011, the State Duma of the Russian Federation passed two laws: 'On the ratification of the so-called "Agreement on the establishment of an integrated Russian military base on the territory of the so-called Republic of Abkhazia"' (between the Russian Federation and the occupation regime it has created in Abkhazia) and 'On the ratification of the so-called "Agreement on the establishment of an integrated Russian military base on the territory of the so-called "Republic of South Ossetia"' (between the Russian Federation and the occupation regime it has created in the Tskhinvali Region/South Ossetia).

The Georgian Foreign Ministry reiterates its unequivocal support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan within internationally recognized borders, and does not recognize the illegal elections of so-called "local self-government bodies"' in Nagorno Karabakh on 18 September 2011.

On 22 September 2011, the 11th meeting of the Georgia-EU Co-operation Committee was held in Tbilisi. The Georgian delegation was led by the Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister, Mr. Tornike Gordadze, and the EU delegation was led by the European External Action Service's Deputy Executive Director for Europe and Central Asia, Mr. Gunnar Wiegand. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Georgian government and of the EU delegation to Georgia, as well as by representatives of EU member states' embassies in Georgia.

On 22 September 2011, within the framework of the General Debate of the 66th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, the Georgian Foreign Minister, Mr. Grigol Vashadze, met the Rt. Hon. Lord David Howell, Minister of State at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

On 22 September 2011, within the framework of the General Debate of the 66th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, the Georgian Foreign Minister, Mr. Grigol Vashadze, held meetings with the foreign ministers of Iraq, Iran, Somalia, Luxembourg and Bosnia-Herzegovina and with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates.
