On 5 March 2012, the foreign ministers of the GUAM countries met in Prague during an informal meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Visegrad Group of countries and of Denmark, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia and Eastern Partnership countries.

The Georgian Foreign Ministry wishes to express its deep sorrow over the huge explosions which took place in an arms depot on 4 March 2012 in Brazzaville, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, causing the death of hundreds of people and extensive destruction of property.

On 4 March 2012, the Russian Federation illegally and in violation of fundamental principles of international law held its presidential election in Georgia's occupied regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali

On 4 March 2012 at 03:20 local time, six members of the Russian forces currently occupying the region of Abkhazia, Georgia, opened fire with automatic weapons and an RPG-7 rocket-propelled grenade launcher towards a Georgian police checkpoint near the village of Ganmukhuri, Zugdidi district. No casualties were reported during the shoot-out, which lasted ten minutes, and the attackers fled back into occupied Abkhazia.
