On June 6, 2012, in New York, States Parties to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea conducted 22nd Meeting in order to elect new members of the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf (CLCS).

On June 5, 2012, within the framework of U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's visit to Georgia, a 3rd omnibus meeting of the U.S.-Georgia Strategic Partnership Commission was held in Batumi. The Plenary Meeting was co-chaired by the U.S. Secretary of State and Prime Minister of Georgia Nika Gilauri. Speaking at the opening of the omnibus meeting, Hillary Clinton emphasized Georgia's progress towards strengthening democratic institutions and implementing economic reforms.
