The Commander-in-chief of the Russian Federation's Land Forces, Colonel-General Vladimir Chirkin, recently paid an official visit - in violation of Georgia's state borders - to Georgia's occupied regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali

On the 13th of July 2012, Russia's lower house of parliament passed (during the third reading) a bill calling for the adoption of various legislative amendments to regulate the activity of so-called "foreign agent" not-for-profit organizations.

From the 9th to the 16th of July 2012, a delegation of the Georgian Foreign Ministry headed by the Deputy Foreign Minister, Mr. Davit Jalaghania, took part in the 19th African Union Summit in the Ethiopian capital Addis-Ababa.

An advanced training programme for 16 diplomats was held at the Georgian Foreign Ministry's training centre between the 14th of May and the 6th of July 2012.
