On the 8th of July 2012, a delegation of the Georgian Foreign Ministry led by the First Deputy Minister, Mr. Nikoloz Vashakidze, took part in the International Conference on Afghanistan held in Tokyo. Donors at the Tokyo Conference pledged $16 billion in aid to Afghanistan over the next four years, and the Conference's participants adopted the "Tokyo Declaration - Partnership for Self-Reliance in Afganistan from Transition to Transformation".
