On the 16th and 17th of August 2012, Salzburg hosted the "Trilogue Salzburg 2012" international conference, which was attended by high-ranking European government officials, the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Mrs. Catherine Ashton, and the heads of various influential analytical centres. The Georgian Foreign Minister, Mr. Grigol Vashadze, addressed the conference on behalf of the Georgian government.

On the 16th of August 2012, a Georgian delegation took part in the inaugural ceremony of the new president of the Dominican Republic, Mr. Danilo Medina, in Santo Domingo.
