Comment of the Press and Information Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia on the killing of Georgian citizen Eduard Ghurtskaia in Moscow

ამოსაბეჭდი ვერსია

Question: How would you assess the fact of killing Georgian citizen Eduard Ghurtskaia by three officers of the Moscow militia on 23 November 2009?

Answer: Such acts should not be surprising from the side of "law enforcers" of the country, which, beginning from 90-ties of the last century, has been waging undeclared war against Georgia, carried out mass expulsion of ethnic Georgians from the territory of Russia in 2006, entered the territory of the sovereign state and several times carried out ethnic cleansings. The fact that representatives of occupation regime still hold four Georgian minors captive in the Tskhinvali national safety committee, is yet another concrete example of such policy.

This killing is a vivid confirmation that xenophobia is a common phenomenon in Russia and crimes on the ethnic ground against representatives of national minorities and Caucasians are committed both by skinheads and Russian militia, who resemble the skinheads by their methods.

Victim of the crime E. Ghurtskaia was an IDP from Abkhazia. Russia first deprived him of homeland and then deprived of life.

The Kremlin calls it "Friendship between nations".
