Chronology of Diplomatic Relations

Diplomatic relations between Georgia and the Republic of Costa Rica were established on 5 May, 1998.

Visits and meetings:

• 1) On November 16-18, 2009, the political consultations between the representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and Costa Rica on the level of Deputy Ministers were held in San Jose, Costa Rica.
• 2) On November 17, 2009 the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship of the Republic of Costa Rica was signed.
• 3) On May 8, 2010, President of Georgia, H.E. Mr. Mikheil Saakashvili paid an official visit to the Republic of Costa Rica. Within the freamwork of the visit the President of Georgia attended the inauguration ceremony of the President of Costa Rica, H.E. Ms. Laura Chinchilla.
