Chronology of Diplomatic Relations

Diplomatic relations between Georgia and the Republic of Latvia were established on March 11, 1993.

Since 1999, Zurab Marshania Consul General  of Georgia to Republics of  Lithuania, Latvia  and Estonia has been defending  rights of  citizens of Georgia.

In September, 2003 Embassy to the Republics of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia was inaugurated. Mr. David Aptsiauri was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republics of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.

By Decree N606 of October 13, 2006 of the President of Georgia, Embassy in the Republic of Latvia was established. Chargée d'affaires Teimuraz Janjalia was appointed.

Embassy of the Republic of Latvia to Georgia was opened on  May 31, 2006. Mr. Egons Neimanis  was  acting as Chargée d'affaires.

Fields of Cooperation

  • Latvia expresses its readiness to share its experience in the field of European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
  • Cooperation in inter-parliamentary, defense and border monitoring fields is intense.
  • Cooperation within the multilateral organizations is significant. Latvian side always supports issues relevant to Georgia.
