Chronology of Diplomatic Relations

Diplomatic relations between Georgia and the Republic of Argentina were established on November 2, 1992.

Fields of Cooperation

The main spheres of cooperation between Georgia and Argentina are the following: political dialogue, culture, education, economy and agriculture. Within the last years new sense was given to the cooperation between the two parties in the abovementioned direction. In order to promote Georgian culture as well as Georgian theatre and film Directors several events were held in Argentina with the support of Georgian Embassy. As a result of the agreements concluded between the educational institutions of the two countries, faculty and student exchanges are carried out and direct links are established between the higher education institutions and the diplomatic training centers of these countries. Exchange of business delegations ensures the development of cooperation in the trade-economic sphere. Georgian party is interested in Argentina's experience in the field of agriculture. The inter-parliamentary cooperation evolves actively. The Group of Friendship with Georgia was established in the Chamber of Deputies of the National Congress of Argentina in 2018.

In recent years, a number of high-level visits were carried out on both at the executive as well as the legislative levels.

    During his visit to Argentina, Ilia Darchiashvili, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, met with Victoria Villaruel, the Vice President of Argentina and President of the Senate. The meeting highlighted the longstanding and positive relations between Argentina and Georgia, which originated during the first democratic republic of Georgia and have flourished since Georgia regained its independence.
