Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Maka Botchorishvili Participates in the Georgia-Türkiye-Azerbaijan Trilateral Ministerial Meeting in Istanbul 

On 8 June 2026, the tenth meeting of the foreign ministers of Georgia, the Republic of Türkiye and the Republic of Azerbaijan was held in Istanbul, with the participation of the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Maka Botchorishvili, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, Hakan Fidan and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov.

During the meeting, the parties reviewed the cooperation among the three countries, in both bilateral and multilateral formats. Particular attention was devoted to cooperation in the fields of politics, trade, economy, energy, connectivity, agriculture, transportation, culture, and humanitarian affairs. The ministers also highlighted the importance of maintaining and further deepening the active dynamics of high-level political dialogue and official visits. 

The sides positively assessed the wide range of cooperation based on the principles of friendship, mutual understanding, respect and support for sovereignty and territorial integrity. They underscored the importance of upholding and strengthening these principles. 

Special attention was paid to the progress and implementation of strategically important joint transit and energy projects. 

The ministers reviewed the region’s potential and the role of the three countries in enhancing connectivity. In this regard, they noted the importance of the full-scale operation of the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars Railway, as well as the development of the Middle Corridor. The parties reaffirmed their readiness to continue coordinated efforts to ensure the successful functioning of these projects, in accordance with the interests of each participating country. 

Within the framework of the ministerial meeting, the parties discussed ongoing regional developments and security challenges, underscoring the importance of the peaceful settlement of conflicts and the use of diplomatic channels. 

Following the trilateral ministerial meeting, a joint statement, Istanbul Declaration, was signed.

Within the framework of the ministerial meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Maka Botchorishvili also held bilateral meetings with Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.

The participants agreed that the next, eleventh trilateral ministerial meeting will be held in Georgia, in accordance with the principle of rotation.
