Ambassador of Georgia has met with Japan’s Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia, Teimuraz Lezhava, held a meeting with the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, Hisayuki Fujii.


Ambassador Lezhava expressed his gratitude to the Japanese side for its steadfast support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He emphasized the importance of strengthening the already friendly relations between the two countries and underscored the need to deepen bilateral cooperation across various fields, including enhancing trade and economic ties, exploring the possibility of concluding a free trade agreement, and promoting people-to-people exchanges.


The conversation also covered Georgia’s foreign policy priorities as well as the key challenges facing the country. Deputy Minister Fujii recalled his visit to the occupation line and noted that, given the current developments in the region, he fully understands the complexity of the situation surrounding Georgia.


Both sides agreed to continue working toward the further deepening of the friendly relations between Georgia and Japan.
