Deputy Foreign Minister Vladimir Konstantinidi has visited Greece with Delegation

From 26 to 30 April 2025, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Vladimir Konstantinidi, paid an official visit to Greece, accompanied by a delegation.


As part of the visit, Deputy Minister Konstantinidi held meetings with members of the Georgian diaspora in the cities of Thessaloniki and Drama. The meetings took place at the St. Nicholas Church of the Georgian parish in Thessaloniki.


During the discussions, Mr. Konstantinidi presented the activities undertaken by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia aimed at strengthening the Georgian diaspora abroad. He emphasized the importance of implementing support programs and projects for diaspora communities, and outlined the ministry’s strategic objectives and future priorities in this regard.


Irakli Zarkua, Chair of the Diaspora and Caucasus Issues Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, also addressed the diaspora members, providing information on current and planned projects carried out by the committee. He underscored the importance of maintaining strong communication between the Georgian state and compatriots living abroad.


In addition, the delegation held meetings with the abbots of Xenophontos, Iviron, and Vatopedi Monasteries on Mount Athos, as well as with Georgian clergy serving on the Holy Mountain. These meetings highlighted the close cooperation between Georgia and Greece, particularly the importance of the historic and friendly ties between the Orthodox Churches of the two countries.


The delegation also had the opportunity to visit the museum of the Iviron Monastery, where unique Georgian cultural and religious artifacts are preserved, including the armor of Tornike Eristavi, the Opiza Four Gospels manuscript, and other priceless Georgian manuscripts.


The Georgian delegation included Irakli Zarkua, Chair of the Diaspora Committee of the Parliament of Georgia; committee member Nodar Turdzaladze; Gela Japaridze, Consul General of Georgia in Thessaloniki; representatives of Tetritskaro Municipality; and Professor Giorgi Andriadze from the Theological Academy of the Patriarchate of Georgia.
