The Georgian Foreign Minister, Ilia Darchiashvili has met with Erin Barclay.  

Within the scope of the high-level segment of the UN Human Rights Council, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili, met with the U.S. Assistant Secretary for Democracy, Human Rights and Labour, Erin Barclay.  

At the meeting, the sides discussed issues relating to the U.S.-Georgia strategic partnership. Special attention was paid to the special contribution of the United States to Georgia’s democratic, economic and institutional development.

Positive appraisal was given to the Georgian Government’s efforts towards human rights protection. Special mention was taken of the development of the relevant legislative framework and the approval of the state strategy for the protection of human rights for 2022-2030.

The U.S. side welcomed Georgia's membership in the UN Human Rights Council for 2023-2025 and expressed its readiness to actively cooperate with the Georgian side in its efforts to effectively implement the Organization's goals.
