Ilia Darchiashvili has handed over to the EU Ambassador Georgia’s first progress report under the EU enlargement Pack

On 19 April 2023, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ilia Darchiashvili, handed over to the Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia, Pawel Herczynski  Georgia’s progress report under the EU enlargement Pack, which was prepared for the first time in accordance with the Copenhagen criteria.
 
The report was approved on 18 April 2023, within the framework of the 66th Meeting of the EU Integration Commission of Georgia chaired by the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili.
 
The document consists of 35 chapters describing legislative, institutional and other activities carried out by Georgia over the past year and the progress achieved in this regard.

Work on the preparation of the report started at the end of February, on request of the European Commission, and the process was coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
All state agencies, including legislative and judicial authorities were involved in the process.
 
The European Commission will release its assessment report in the fall of 2023, based on which the European Council will consider granting the status of a EU Candidate Country to Georgia at the end of 2023.

The Georgian Foreign Minister also handed to the EU ambassador a letter from EU commissioner for European Neighborhood and Enlargement issues. The letter indicates that  Georgia’s input indicates includes comprehensive information, including relevant statistical data in all directions.
