On 18 September 2026, the 67th meeting of the Council of National Coordinators of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development - GUAM was held via videoconference, with the participation of the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Coordinator of GUAM, George Zurabashvili.
The participants discussed current issues on the organization’s agenda and prospects for regional cooperation. Particular appreciation was expressed to the GUAM Secretariat for ensuring the organization’s uninterrupted functioning and the smooth operation of its working groups.
George Zurabashvili spoke about the challenging situation in Georgia’s occupied territories and the security challenges facing the region. The First Deputy Minister welcomed the active engagement of GUAM’s sectoral working groups and noted that Tbilisi will host meetings of two working groups in October 2026.
Against the backdrop of the ongoing war in Ukraine, George Zurabashvili once again reaffirmed Georgia’s steadfast support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Within the framework of the meeting, the participants exchanged views on cooperation among GUAM member states and its future prospects, and reaffirmed their readiness to continue working actively within the organization to strengthen practical cooperation.
