On 5 and 6 December 2023, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Teimuraz Janjalia, visited Ireland on a working visit.
Within the framework of the visit, a meeting was held with the Minister of State for European Affairs of Ireland, Peter Burke. The main topic of discussions was the progress on the implementation of the European Commission’s recommendations by Georgia and the positive decision of the European Commission regarding the granting of candidate status to Georgia.
The sides welcomed the growing dynamics in bilateral relations and emphasized the importance of the exchange of high-level visits as well as of the regular political dialogue between the foreign ministries of the two countries. Special attention was paid to the role of Ireland in consolidating the international support to Georgia.
The sides signed a memorandum of understanding between the governments of Georgia and Ireland on the employment of dependents of employees of diplomatic representations and consular offices in the host country.
