Political Consultations Held between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and the Republic of Serbia

On 17 September 2026, another round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and the Republic of Serbia was held in Tbilisi.

The Georgian side was headed by the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, George Zurabashvili, while the Serbian delegation was led by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Damjan Jović.

The sides positively assessed the active dynamics of high-level visits between Georgia and the Republic of Serbia and emphasized the importance of further deepening bilateral dialogue. The discussion covered sectoral areas of cooperation, including trade and economic relations and tourism, as well as prospects for developing people-to-people contacts.

Within the framework of economic cooperation, particular attention was paid to the ongoing negotiations on concluding a free trade agreement providing a basis for deepening economic cooperation between the two countries and creating new opportunities.

George Zurabashvili and Damjan Jović exchanged information on issues related to relations with the European Union.

The First Deputy Minister briefed the Serbian side on the situation in Georgia’s occupied regions. The sides once again reaffirmed their firm support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the two countries.

The discussion also covered cooperation within international organizations. The sides exchanged views on current issues on the regional and international agenda.

The sides reaffirmed their mutual readiness to maintain regular communication.
