On 6 December, during a meeting with the Deputy Director of the Political Department of the Irish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Brian Flynn, the current agenda of bilateral relations was discussed. The sides emphasized the importance of implementing the results of the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili to Ireland, and noted that it will help outline new, promising areas of cooperation.
Special attention was drawn to the importance of regular political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs.
At a joint meeting held in the Irish Legislature, attended by the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Charlie Flagan, representatives of the Group of Friends and other members of the Committee, the sides highlighted the active parliamentary cooperation, which is the cornerstone of bilateral relations.
Teimuraz Janjalia noted with satisfaction with resolutions adopted in support for Georgia by the Irish Parliament and expressed the hope that this practice will continue in the future.
Special attention was focused on the security environment in the region, which has worsened sharply against the background of Russia's military aggression in Ukraine.
Teimuraz Janjalia provided the Irish side with detailed information about the situation in the occupied territories of Georgia. The sides noted the need for the partners’ consolidated position and, in this regard, the importance of Ireland's irrevocable support was noted.
Within the framework of the visit, Teimuraz Janjalia made a public report before the European Union Affairs Committee of the Parliament of Ireland. He described as historic the EU leaders' June 2022 decision to open a European perspective for Georgia.
Teimuraz Janjalia expressed hope that in December the European leaders will make another historic decision and will link Georgia's future more closely to the united family of European democratic countries.
