The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili, held a meeting with the Secretary General of the OSCE, Helga Schmid, within the framework of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.
At the meeting, the sides reviewed the issues relating to Georgia’s cooperation with the OSCE. Special note was taken of Georgia's successful involvement in all three dimensions of the organization, as well as of active cooperation with individual institutions and the Secretary General.
The minister thanked the organization and the Secretary General for keeping the issue of Georgia high on the OSCE agenda.
The sides also exchanged information about the situation in the occupied regions of Georgia. Support for the government’s peaceful conflict resolution policy was confirmed once again. The minister emphasized the OSCE’s important role in the process of confidence building and reconciliation between the communities torn apart by the conflict.
