The first round of political consultations between Georgia and the Republic of Kenya was held, led on the Georgian side by Alexander Khvtisiashvili, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and on the Kenyan side by Abraham Korir Sing’Oei, Principal Secretary of Foreign Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs.

During the consultations, the sides discussed issues on the agenda of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, as well as opportunities for its further development. The importance of exchanging high-level visits was highlighted.

The sides reviewed economic cooperation. In this context, Georgia’s favourable business environment and the reforms implemented by the country were underscored.

Emphasis was placed on trade and investment, as well as on opportunities to deepen relations in the fields of culture, sports, education, agriculture and healthcare.

The sides also discussed cooperation and mutual support within international organisations.

The discussions focused on the grave humanitarian situation in Georgia’s Russian-occupied regions, with emphasis placed on the importance of a peaceful resolution of the conflict. The Georgian side expressed its gratitude to the Kenyan side for its support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
